Surprise! We're in San Diego!!!

It IS the promised land!

I will post photos once I get some off my phone.

DH got a wonderful job with Takeda Pharmaceuticals at their Torrey Pines base in CA. It's all wonderful. I have already signed up for a couple of "catch-up" classes at UCSD extension. I will be back in the workplace in the fall when the mighty s starts pre-K, doing I don't know what, but, but, BUT, ... I have started the five-year-plan!

We are going to have a wonderful time here. We are going to make the absolute best of this wonderful opportunity! I think this may be the last place, home, the "far green country." :-)

Well what gloomy miserable black hole wrote that last post?

Chin up! Onward! Turns out that last Sat was the last blast of that particularly piece of nastiness and that getting the afternoon off to walk five miles in the very pleasant fall air, do some halloween shopping, and study my pop. gen. for a while would rejuvenate this sad bucket of despair. I only get to look at my book for about an hour every two weeks but I'm hanging on to it as the thread that will bring me back.

Last night was Halloween. You can thank me for the public service announcement. We went trick-r-treating. Poor small man got aches in his legs that kept him and me awake for half the night. Guess we won't be doing half the houses in the neighborhood next year.
Here is a photo (actually from Monday night at Story-book forest):

In other news, Pinterest is such a time-suck. I wish I had the gumption to swear off it forever but it keeps sucking me back in. And it kinds of sucks because most of the stuff is just so woeful. Did I mention that I think it sucks? Well one thing at a time.

Watching a bit of Thunder versus San Antonio. I can't believe the Beard sold us out. That B'stard! I mean $80m but, still, the b'stard! Apparently the new guy (Martin?) is just Hardin without the beard. Yeah-yeah, we'll see. Course watching the Spurs means watching Boris Diaw. Here's my other PSA:

You're welcome! ;-)

Thought the big boy was all clear but the trots have shown up again this morning. :-(
So no soccer or anything else, lots of the pink/green stuff (pediatric version to those who are all jumping up to be a know-it-all), and some probiotics. This is why I will never amount to anything. Anytime I start something, one or the other or both gets sick and I have no-one to spot me so I can't drop. Misery me. :-( I love 'em both but I sure wish for a little bit of personal existence. Again, misery me.

MyFitnessPal is excellent. I highly recommend it - much better than Wibbley-Wobblies and cheaper, i.e. free! All I've got to do is stick with it ;-D Also - tuna - it's your only man. Pity about the mercury.

Boys have been taken down with a stupendous bad-ass of a diarrhea bug. But no puking so that's wonderful. Down-side is I miss work, which pays me, and also, I can't really take them anywhere because memories of Earth Day 2010 still haunt me.(The eldest, then 3 and just potty-trained, had a bout of the most horrible scuttery trots at the top of the playground castle at OKC Zoo. Because it was Earth Day and every school in the place had send bus loads of kids, I was parked about 1/2 mile away so I had to get a zoo employee with a golf-cart to transfer me, the big boy, the not yet walking mountain of baby, and the baby carriage back to our car. I still spasm involuntarily when I think about it.)

What's been going on? Almost finished the boys' room - will make a push this afternoon when they're napping. Can't wait to have a photograph to document my efforts. I cleaned the baseboards in that room for the first time and it's amazing how well they look when they're clean. I will be cleaning the baseboards a room a day until they're all done and then put it in the rota. (hahahaha - rota!)

One very big other thing is going on behind the scenes. No I'm not pregnant. As yet I cannot say what it is "out loud" but it's huge and I'm very excited.

Being looking for Halloween crafts for the small men to do while they're stuck at home but most of the stuff either requires a run to Hobby Lobby (not going, see Earth Day 2010 above) or is just too damned complicated for 5.5 years and 3.75 years. (By the way, I've made another decision about this blog: I'm not going to censor myself. If a curse word is required, you'll read a curse word.)

Finally, I'm proud to say, that I have two bags of good candy in the spare room for Halloween and I have not even wanted to touch them thus far.

Well today has been a bit of a waste of a day.

Oklahoma has been flooded (haha) today. Woke up to a thunderstorm, got caught in Walmart in a thunderstorm, it was absolutely bucketing down as we were finishing off the border in the boys' room. Which reminds me. There will be a picture of the boys' room when it's done!

Bunco was lots of fun last night. Out in lovely Piedmont. Great hostess - lots of yummy food and drink and just relaxed. :-)

Unfortunately, after I got home, I just could not sleep until very late so just 5 hours sleep total. The combination of too little sleep, head-cold, and just general malaise has made this a lost day.

Did figure out "MyFitnessPal". Great little ap. Unfortunately, I was over my limit for the day before dinner. Really gotta get back running again. Think I'll get some new running pants as an incentive...

Maybe these?

HAHAHAHAHA! Maybe not! Who buys $90 blue running capris?

reboot

This went the way of the dodo but I’m re-instating it!

As no-one was reading it anyway, I figure I will just put whatever I feel like on here but covering over my kids’ names.

I will be turning 40 in Feb 2013, which is not very long at all, and I am looking to re-invent myself. My thirties seem to be my lost decade and I just feel a bit lost in general.

I seem to have gone steadily downhill in every aspect in the last few years and I want/must stop the erosion. So now that the boys are old enough to be in school full-time (except for that huge gaping gap in the summer), I’m going to get back into the swing of things.

I AM going to get back into some kind of work that is interesting to me. At some level. I will freely admit to not really being in love with anything I’ve done so far, including motherhood. Which is not the same as saying I don’t love my boys ferociously. I do. I am going to get into some kind of work that is interesting to me because (1) I like to earn, (2) I am ambitious to be SOMEBODY (hahahahaha!), and (3) I want to do something meaningful with my life. Now here’s where everyone hoots and hollers about motherhood being meaningful, but I don’t mean to take credit for my boys because, far as I can see, the magic and greatness of my boys was programmed in already and I just had to cook them and then get out of the way!

I am going to get into something that I DO LOVE. It doesn’t have to be work, although that would be great, but I am going to find something that I love. I am almost 40 in a gene-puddle where 95 is the average so I think that I can start now and still have sufficient time to do something creditable with my life.

So here’s a start. Long, long ago in the dawn of time, I loved English best of all my subjects. I thought of turning it into a career by being a journalist but good advisors pointed out that I liked security too much for that to be a good career. Well, what they forgot is that nothing is really secure, and they misjudged my desire for security anyway. Boo-sucks to them. This is not journalism but it is writing. Away I go....

Rejuvenate

I'm going to rejuvenate this blog.

Some stuff happened to us in Sept of last year and I dropped a lot of things but this is not something I'm going to give up on.
